A textile journey to the heart of Africa
Born in Cameroon, we are 2 sisters , Christelle and Ida, who grew up in the cosmopolitan city of Douala, where there is a mix of the country's different ethnic groups.
Lulled by African tales, we have always been fascinated by the richness of African and Western cultures as well as the textile world. One is a stylist and the other a saleswoman.
It was only natural that we decided to create Mapiqueen Design in 2022, a Cameroonian home linen brand that celebrates the beauty of African textiles and highlights the history of each fabric to bring an ethnic touch to your interior decoration and transform the atmosphere of your living space .
Our ambition? You travel Africa from your sofa or immerse yourself in your travel memories , by offering yourself original and comfortable household linen in shimmering colors . Each item is designed with care, favoring quality natural materials . We combine traditional African fabrics such as ndop, bazin, bogolan , kente, indigo loincloth ... with cotton, linen, silk, silk cotton, percale ... to obtain products that are pleasant to the touch and for the skin.
Unique creations, the fruit of know-how passed down from generation to generation
Specialists in ethnic household linen, we design items for every living space : duvet covers , pillowcases, cushion covers , kitchen aprons , tablecloths and napkins, curtains… and by season accessories such as tote bags , computer or iPad cases …
From design to manufacturing, we are involved in every step of the creation of our collections. Mapiqueen Design sources from local suppliers in Cameroon for the choice of materials used. Our stylist designs all products based on the skills and knowledge acquired in fashion design school ; drawing inspiration from her travels, second-hand pieces and her encounters . She carefully selects fabrics with geometric patterns , ethnic symbols , animals or flowers... , in vibrant colors, for their originality and authenticity. Each item is then made by hand based on the know-how passed down by our seamstress grandmothers. And there you have it, this is how items are born that will fit into your decoration style and bring warmth and a guaranteed change of scenery!
